The Customer
Transforming Marketing into a Strategic Growth Function for a Multi-Brand B2B Business
AUK Group is a family of specialist businesses built on decades of industry expertise, strong customer relationships and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
With three specialist brands—AUK Hygiene, SWS Hardware and Modu Hygiene—the group supports customers across commercial cleaning, luxury interiors and private-label hygiene solutions.
Since partnering with Fruit Marketing, we have become an integrated part of the AUK leadership team, helping transform marketing from a reactive support function into a strategic business driver.
Together, we have built a marketing function that strengthens each individual brand, supports commercial objectives and gives the business confidence that every marketing decision has purpose.

The Challenge
AUK Group had built successful businesses through deep sector knowledge, strong relationships and an ability to respond quickly to changing customer needs.
However, as the group continued to grow, marketing needed to evolve.
Before working with Fruit, AUK had employed a number of internal marketing managers, each bringing valuable skills and experience. However, the business struggled to find someone who could provide the complete marketing expertise needed across all three brands.
Marketing had become increasingly reactive, with activity often shaped by individual skill sets rather than the wider commercial objectives of the business.
Each brand had different ambitions, audiences and opportunities, but there was no clear strategic framework ensuring each received the right level of focus and support.
The business had also invested in strong digital infrastructure, including a new website platform, but the opportunity was not being fully realised. The technology was there, but the strategy, content and marketing expertise needed to maximise its potential were missing.
Digital channels such as SEO, social media, email marketing and digital advertising were underdeveloped, limiting AUK's ability to build awareness, engage customers and generate new opportunities.
The challenge wasn't a lack of expertise.
It was making sure their existing expertise was communicated effectively to the market.
AUK needed a marketing partner who understood their values, could work at pace and had the experience to take ownership of the entire marketing function.
The Approach
After an introduction that began with a chance meeting in a field, Fruit Marketing started our partnership with AUK Group by delivering a Marketing Discovery Day.
The purpose was simple:
- To understand the business, its ambitions, its customers and its existing marketing function before recommending what needed to happen next.
- We spent time with key stakeholders across the group, reviewing each brand individually, assessing current systems and identifying both immediate opportunities and longer-term priorities.
- Rather than arriving with a predetermined marketing plan, we built our approach around what the business actually needed.
- Following the Discovery Day, AUK appointed Fruit Marketing as their outsourced marketing partner.
Today, we operate as an extension of their team—working alongside the leadership team to develop strategy, manage implementation and provide the marketing expertise needed to support continued growth.

The Process
Building a Strategic Marketing Function
Our first priority was creating clarity.
Working alongside the leadership team, we developed marketing strategies aligned to the company's wider strategic objectives.
This gave each brand a clear direction and ensured marketing activity was focused on achieving commercial outcomes rather than simply generating activity.
For a multi-brand organisation, this balance is critical.
AUK Hygiene, SWS Hardware and Modu Hygiene each serve different audiences and markets, requiring different approaches while still operating under the same group values.
Our role is to understand those differences and build the right marketing approach for each business.
The Outcome
Since partnering with Fruit Marketing, AUK Group has transformed its marketing function into a strategic business asset.
Fruit is now fully embedded within the leadership team, providing the expertise, structure and support needed to confidently make marketing decisions.
Together, we have achieved:
- A 35% increase in website users since 2022
- A 41% increase in website sessions since 2022
- 30% year-on-year growth in online sales in 2025
- Increased adoption of online customer account functionality, helping website orders increase by 10 percentage points in 2026
- Stronger visibility across search engines and AI search platforms through expert content development
- Clearer brand positioning through the development of USP pillars
Most importantly, marketing is now aligned with where AUK Group wants to go.
The business has confidence that its marketing activity has purpose, its systems support growth and its expertise is being communicated effectively to the customers who need it.
